Paul Anis has been an assistant professor of French at the University of Hartford, a market manager for B&B Italia furniture, and is now on his third career: entrepreneur and interior designer. In May, Mr. Anis, 40, opened the first floor of his sleek SoHo showroom, Studio Anise; late last month, he opened the floor downstairs as well. On display are Acheo kitchens (starting at $18,000), Agape bathrooms (tubs, left, start at $9,000), De Padova furniture (sofas start at $3,200) and Wall and Decò wallpaper (starting at $11 a square foot).
Mr. Anis also offers interior design services, but only in conjunction with a licensed architect. “I’m not a licensed interior designer,” he said. “But that’s where my true love lies.”
